Therefore, in this article I am going to show you how to prepare Caramel at home without necessarily going to the store to get one.
When you master the art of doing things yourself, you will save a lot of cash for yourself.
There are the procedures to follow
First put the sugar in a large bowl that is clean. This is because it ensures the sugar melt properly without crystalizing.
Thereafter, gently add water to evenly distribute the sugar in the bowl.
Stir properly. Squeeze the lemon and extract the juice.
Then add the lemon juice to the mixture. This will provide quick crystallization.
Put the mixture in an iron pot and put on fire.
Bring the sugar and water to boil. Allow the mixture to boil for some time.

The heat must be on high and don’t touch the pot to avoid burning your hands.
Also, when the sugar is in high head, it will begin to change colour.
Note that three (3) cups of sugar takes about 8 minutes to melt.
Gently jolt the pot to evenly distribute the colour. When it starts to turn colour, pay adequate attention because the process is very quickly.
You also need to look out for a dark or amber colour. The heat should be high and reach 280 degree Celsius.
How do you know it is ready? Here, use your nose to perceive a slightly pleasant smell.

That’s how you know it is ready.
Subsequently, remove the sugar from the heat and immediately add cream or condensed milk or butter cream and stir with a long wooden dessert spoon.
Note: Don’t use metal spoon because it conduct heat and the sugar may get hot and make the mental spoon very hot.
The sugar may bubble so you need a long wooden spoon to do that.
If you are using butter cream, then add immediately and stir.
Stir until it is fully mixed together. That’s it. You now have a smooth rich buttery homemade caramel.
